2010 PROJECT COMPASSION
"Blueprint for a better world" is this year's theme for Project Compassion and is inspired by the Millenium Development Goals. What are the Millenium Develoopment Goals? In September 2000, at the Millennium Summit, Australia joined with the rest of the world in signing the Millennium Declaration which set eight goals that aimed to halve world poverty by 2015. These became the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger 2. Achieve universal primary education 3. Promote gender equality and empower women 4. Reduce child mortality 5. Improve maternal health 6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases 7. Ensure envirobmental sustainability sustainability 8. Secure a global partnership for development
Please collect your Project Compassion boxes or envelopes from the church today, or contact the Parish Office

PARISH LIBRARY
We have a wonderful resource in our Parish "St Jerome's Library" - it is a free service. The library has well stocked shelves with some excellent reading - in the past 16 years we have seen the library grow from 40 books to over 1200 books!
It's easy to borrow, just follow the instructions.
We also have some books that have been borrowed out for some time. Could you please return them so that others may benefit from them?

| St Vincent de Paul
|
For this message you have from the beginning, that we should love one another. Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.
The St Vincent de Paul Society has served the people of Australia and New Zealand for over 125 years. The parish commends their good works.
Add a little hope, add a little dignity, add a little smile and help change a life today.
The downturn in the economy means more demands are being made on the Society's resources.

| HEARING LOOP
|
A Hearing Loop has been installed in Sacred Heart Church that will service the whole congregation. This service operates for those who have hearing aids that have a ' T ' switch on them. A signal is transmitted to the hearing aid through the church sound system and removes any external noise interference. The system has recently been checked by a technician and is set to a good, medium level. However it may also be necessary for some users to adjust the volume of their hearing aid up or down themselves. Anyone who would like further information please contact the parish office.
